Special Activities
Community Service
We have an annual canned food drive that our students participate in. The 4's classes have a Bike-a-Thon to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We may participate in additional service projects as opportunities are presented.
Field Trips
Our 4's classes go on local field trips during the year. Some of our recent locations have included Catoctin Mountain Orchard, Mayne's Christmas Tree Farm, Dairy Queen and the Frederick Municipal Airport.
Family Events
Families are invited to our annual Christmas programs where students perform holiday songs and dramatize the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus. The 4's classes have a very special Mother's Tea in May. Our end of the year graduation ceremonies are also a time to share special songs and memories from the school year with our families.
Holiday Parties
Parents are invited to plan and help celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter with class parties.
Bookmobile
The Frederick County Public Libraries' Bookmobile visits regularly. A librarian shares a story with the 4's students and gives the children an opportunity to choose a book to use in the classroom.
Fall Fundraiser
Our school fundraiser is an Uncle Ralph's cookie dough sale at the beginning of the school year. All of our profit from this sale is spent on items (such as new puzzles, dress-up clothes, classroom manipulative toys, etc.) to be used by the children during their current school year.
